Davis Harbor · Miami
Built in 1920 featuring significant coral rock limestone, this Davis Harbor home had survived more than a century of Miami’s growth without ever receiving historic designation or formal protection. Demolition would have been the easier path, but the character of the original house was simply too compelling to lose. Dune chose instead to preserve the existing structure and completely reimagine it around the way we wanted a modern Miami home to live.
The renovation touched nearly every surface and system while retaining the material and architectural character that made the house unique. Bespoke cabinetry and built-ins extend through the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, dining room, bar, living spaces and primary closet, giving the relatively compact home a level of detail and functionality more often found in much larger residences.
Rather than trying to make a 1920 house feel new, the goal was to make its age part of what made it special. The finished home combines its original coral-rock construction with a completely renewed interior, modern systems and custom furnishings designed specifically for the house.
